![]() I broke down crying and called my dad after pretty much every session. And they usually had support from the parents, but just were in a financial situation where it was often a single parent working multiple jobs and couldn't dedicate the time to help their kids. ![]() They had to apply for the program or be nominated by a teacher, had to show up each week, and maintain their grades, so the kids were genuinely happy to be there learning. One of the things they did was offer math and science tutoring after school, where the kids were also provided a meal. When I was at my first job, one of our execs was on the board for a professional engineering group that had an outreach program for inner city students.
